not true, mine did the same thing, you broke ur vacuum line most likely, its a small black hose under your hood towards the back of ur engine. check that, mine did the same thing and it turns it was broken, ask if you need pictures to see what it looks like and where its at

in this case this vacuum line probably only drives your heating system but u never know it could be linked to something els and vacum leaks cause ur car to burn fuel less efficiently and run like a bag of shit i should know my escort is full of them and i just finished replacing every vacuum line known to man on that little 2.0l engine lol and its still throwing an egr code the bastard

I just got it uncovered and fond the leak, well two leaks. One is the vaccum line by the firewall that is broke on both ends and i dont even know where the side towards the middle goes. The other is on the top passenger side of the engine towards the back. I also started it up and it started smoking and wouldnt stop b/c of something (most likely oil) dripping on the exhuast. Its time for a new engine for me, 4.2L, im done dealing with that peice.

the smoking could easily be caused by the vacuum leak especially if its with in your PCV valve vacuum system don't just say the engine is pooched. I bet its your PCV valve leaking and it tossing oil form the crank case into the intake.

It may be, what is loacated on the valve cover towards the back on the passenger side? It plugs into it, and this was completely unplugged so i plugged it back in. But that was be4 i started it up. I think i have a vaccum system disaster on my hands, haha.

oh and my educated guess is that that vacuum line on the valve cover probably goes into your intake right? it takes air from the intake and puts it into the valve cover so when your pcv valve opens to relieve the pressure in the crank case the valve cover will suck some air in from that vacuum line from your intake to even the pressure out. well at least thats how it was on my escort

It was sitting for about a month (covered in snow), and it sounds fine surprisingly still sounds strong. The smoke is coming from something dripping on my headers though, i can see it dripping and almost positive its oil. And thats exactly it Juggalo_x, i didnt even notice nething wen it was unplugged.

get the vacuum line fixed dude it will help on gas mileage and help your engine run allot smother. although that is just a air intake to the valve cover so its theoretically not a vacuum line lol but fix it so u dont suck any debris into your engine and screw it up. and as for the oil leak... probably from the valve cover the gaskets are beans and simple as shit to do your self in the driveway with a few beers also do an oil change and run a bottle of Lucas Heavy duty oil stabilizer in there with the change and it will run smoother then ever and seal any minor oil leaks and prevent more from happening i swear by this Lucas stuff i use it on anything that i own with an engine. heres a link if you've never heard of it http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show
