All I've done to my interior is add LED lights in the footwells. I'll be replacing carpet, new seats, painting interior parts, changing dome light to LED colored lights, short throw shifter, new shift knob, new pedal covers, and whatever else I can think of as time goes on. There's plenty you can do, check out AmericanMuscle for some ideas.

i think something like around the floor panels kinda like the ambient lighting option in the new mustangs would be cool

well you can wire up LED lights or a couple neon tubes to a switch pretty easily

You can pick up LED strips on ebay from some Chinese companies for $2.00 shipped. Pick up a switch at AutoZone, Advanced Auto, etc. Basically you just need to find a place to mount the switch, mount the lights, run the wires to the switch, and find some wires to tap into for power + ground (cigarette lighter works great). The switch will have 3 prongs (power, load, ground). Positive wire from power source goes to power. Negative wires from power source and lights go to ground. Positive wires from lights go to load. It's really simple and, if you're feeling up to it, you can solder all the areas where you splice wires to ensure it stays together but I simply sealed mine with electrical tape and it's been doing fine so far.

Edit: And for other ideas, just use your imagination. If you can't find a "kit" or whatnot for what you want to do, there's always a way to make it work and someone around here can probably figure something out.

not all switches will have the two prongs...only those with a light in them with have the 3 prong setup. as far as wiring goes, make sure you put an inline fuse on your power wire just in case you have a short. that way you wont start a fire. if you really dont know anything about wiring, make sure you learn first before just going in and throwing wire everywhere.

I guess I just assumed most people would go with a lighted switch (matching the color of their lights). I guess it just looks better to me.

in certain places it works, but sometimes i have experienced it to be annoying at night if the switch points light towards your face

Very true. I mount my switch where the accessory port used to be so it faces the dashboard.

The strips I have in my footwells have 15 LEDs each. It's bright, but not overly bright in my opinion. I'm going to do the rear with 2 more 15 LED strips and I'm going to put one strip in the trunk because there just isn't enough light at night and it's cheap as hell to get those strips on ebay.
