Shift Kit or Livewire?
Im wondering if I get a livewire, I know you can change shift points and stuff like that with it, BUT will it do the same thing as actually installing a shift kit??
Any help would be great. Thanks, Josh W.

A tuner will allow you to ramp up line pressure a little bit and firm up/quicken your shifts.
A shift kit opens up the ports and allows more fluid flow to achieve a similar effect. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck get the tuner, but if you just want a really nice shift get the shift kit. However the shift kit will still use your factory shift points. |

Im leaning more toward the Livewire being it does similar things as the shift kit, PLUS multiple other things. Im looking at a 1999 GT tomorrow, I really wanted a 5 Speed but this car is an auto and its a really good price. So I figured since its an auto I would get a shift kit or tuner for it. Thanks for help man.

No problem... Also don't sweat the trans.
The 4R70 is one of the best around. |

Almost no "street" oriented shifting mods to an auto will make it more fun than driving a 5speed. And unless you have a good reason, or money burning a hole buy an x3.

ESG What would you recommend? Shift kit or tuner for a 99 Auto GT?

Swapping in a T-5 wasnt an option. I fixin to be making payments on a car I wont be able to afford swapping a transmission too, plus if there is nothing wrong with the auto there is no reason to take it out. Tuner it is.

With the tuner, and a good tune from say like Justin @ VMPtuning.com you will gain a few HP.

yeah i was counting on that, but most of all i want it to shift firmer and quicker, this is all hypothetical right now though Im going to look at 2 cars today, 99 GT Auto, and a 98 GT 5 Speed. Leaning toward 99 though, it has less miles, and is pretty much bone stock besides some aftermarket wheels; and I like that because its like a fresh canvas to paint on.

It was locked, but still i bought it because I knew it only cost $150 to have it unlocked and even after paying that it's still a good deal.
But when I got it i figured out how to unlock it myself so I didn't even have to pay the $150
