99 v6 cam/intakes

Hey, I've gone through all of the pages of topics here, and some topics have come up that help, and yet, they still don't help me. I am interested in a cam, and possibly ported intakes... maybe cylinders later down the road when I can afford it. Would anyone reccomend a cam? Should I just get the cam or should I get other stuff with it? what all do I need if I get a cam(only) or if I only get the ported intakes?
After install, will I need to reprogram my computer or anything?

I wouldn't worry with internals till you got full bolt ons. Go with a tuner some ud pulleys, a CAI then more up to the heavier stuff.

just do full-bolt ons and see how you're pleased with that

by the way with the 4.10s you should recalibrate your speedometer

well, I didn't plan on going by thier claims, but, I have nothing else to go by. around here, there's only one place to get a dyno and they charge more than I could afford. so, it's obviously not going to happen anytime soon. any reccomendations on a cheap s/c or anything?

common cam size for 3.8 is a stock 4.2 cam
common cam for 4.2 is a 207/215 .495 lift cam
cam i have for the F150 4.2 207/215 and i have ported heads and intake with a windstar upper with rollar rockers, makes good power
I have a 218/222 cam with .570 lift sitting on my desk needing a new home, this is a large cam for my motor and IMO a little over kill on a stock head 3.8
Get a tune after the cam install it helps however i ran my truck with no tune for 6 months with out a tune on the 207 cam

and with the cam change the springs to with it and maybe the rockers as well to work with the cam...if not still do the springs because it will benefit the cam plus you may have to regardless...guys at Sniper said the Springs will have to be changed in a mild or high cam....along with a tune to really bring it out and is better for the car running daily....rockers go with what ever fits best with the size cam.... Redlined Mustangs, Tom Morona Racing, and Super Six motorsports have nice V6 Cams, rockers, and springs along with other stuff but if u wanted a Custom Crane Cam or Comp i dont know if they make a V6 cam for the 99-04 but they can do custom ones will be more expensive tho

Yes springs are a must when you do any cam, and also you need to check your pushrod length as well or you can end up with a disaster.

after talking with my mechanic he said firming shift pressures with the xcal 2 is the same as a shift kit so i dont know if i will be getting a shift kit or not i still may just to beef up the tranny.

i heard its better to make the lift up with the cam and keep the 1.73 ratio it keeps the geometry better.
