My '04 V6 Mod Log
Hey guys!
I'm a long time lurker, new member though. I thought, "Hey, i'm starting to work on my car and it'd be cool to post a neat log with my progress." So, here it is! I'm just starting out with modding my car but I've been bitten by the mod bug and I'm itching everyday to do something to my car. ![]() So, i have a 2004 V6 and so far the only thing I have done is installed a new muffler on it. Yeah yeah, I should have waited and gone with a true dual setup, I just wanted to add a little sound until I could save up enough for a true dual setup. So currently all I've got is one Flowmaster Original 40 on. It gives it a nice little rumble. I'm looking to do quite a few things with my car and I have a big paycheck coming my way this friday which will hopefully allow me to get a Cold Air Intake and a new Throttle body. So... Currently Installed: Flowmaster Original 40 Muffler Looking to Install: Cold Air Intake Throttle Body Under Drive Pullies Gears Limited Slip Etc. 2 questions about future mods I want to do. For the pullies would it be best to get Under Drive and then Over to even things out with the alternator and battery and what not? (I am new to cars, so go easy on me. ) And for intake manifolds. Hows the install for those? Noticeable HP gain? Worth it?Thanks for reading guys! I'm excited to be a part of the community.

first off....welcome
second...don't waste your hard earned money on a TB at this stage....if you can swing it go with gears & T-lok....that'll make you a happy camper... ![]() U/D pullies arent' really a big gain on our cars either...but every HP adds up |

if you're just doing bolt-ons which i thought i was, i'v heard u/d pullies are one of the better things to do. but i'm glad i didn't because then i'd have had to take them back off for the supercharger. and to your questions...gears are great, just decide if you're going to do FI first, cause you'll want 4.10s if not. next, get a cheap cai as long as it looks pretty good and its good quality. then for the intake manifold...i'd recommend a windstar upper, and the install isn't that bad. we could help you through it with whatever you need. hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses.
![]() So for gears I would think I'll be getting the 4.10's. I mean, I would love to get F/I on my car but I don't see it happening in the near future whatsoever. For gears it'd be best to buy the T-lok at the same time then, yeah? Save me a trip to the shop. I assume that the T-lok is probably something I'd need a bit more car experience to install, yeah? Thanks for the input guys! Its nice to talk to people who actually know what they're talking about. Edit: Estimates on the pricing for getting a T-lok with gears installed? |

i think i paid $180 to get them both installed...but I took the rear end outta the car and took it apart and took it to them. and yes, you want to do both at once. It was something I was going to do myself, but I didn't want to chance ruining $350 in gears, t-lok, and install kit. Not for a beginner to do. Windstar is fun though.

well...local v6s have seen an average gain of around 9hp from U/D pullies...not a big gain in my opinion for the price....and the windstar intake is fun...i have a write up if needed and my friend can also be of help if needed...his last stang had a windstar intake that ran him $100 used...so if you can find a good deal it's not a bad mod

There's also a CAI available at Americanmuscle.com that's only $75 and free shipping. Looks good, it's a fenderwell, does the job, and i even managed to install it myself which is a miracle in itself since i'm a noob with car mechanics. So not a bad choice if u just want an intake that's affordable and looks good.

Its the stock Eaton supercharger off of a 03-04 Terminator Cobras. Somebody made an adapter so we could put it on our sixxers. Ive seen the superchargers go for like 600 on craigslist and ebay, Im not sure about the adapter though
. And I dont think you will have to change anything in the motor itself to be able to run it unless you are going to run more than like 10-12psi???? Somebody correct me if Im wrong please lol. Anyways it doesnt really look like it would be all that hard but idk ive never done it. I think there are a few guys on here that have though maybe they will speak up and let you in on it lol. O and good luck with whatever it is you end up doing but if i were to go back and do it all over again i would go this route instead of all the other crap i did...just my 2 cents though

Yeah i mean, it looks interesting. I'd love to hear some info from more people who know a lot about it. It seems like quite the interesting route to go and i'd like to hear if people have either, A) Done it, Or B) At least know more about what exactly it is, what you need with it, when it's good to get it. Stuff like that.

my personal opinion i did it and the reason i did it was for the wine of the supercharger. if i did it again id just go with a procharger or vortech

well the reason you would go procharger or vortech, because you have the option of using an intercooler with them. The eaton as of now has not cooling. This means that you are running a blower that will get hot fast and will not allow you to run high levels of boost because of the heat it makes and you have no way of preventing it. This limits the eaton to less power capabilities compared to the procharger.

Oh trust me the eaton looks SO badass! And dont get me wrong i love it. just the other kits are easier im guessing. But if you do the m112 make sure you get a tune RIGHT AWAY! Cause i cracked every single one of my pistons because i didnt get it tuned.

The m-90 off the supercoupe will bolt up to your motor. Mpx makes an aftermarket m-90 that has put mustangs into the bottom 11's.
