mystery peice

ok i got into a wreck and there was a hole in a bumper and a cracked lence. i got the bumper and the lence fixed, but the piece that holds the bumper the hols for the bolts are broken and when we put the bumper on the driver side lence is pushed in a little and theres too much of a gap between the side light and the front one. so who can tell me what this piece is called.

Dude, I think I know what your talking about. Is it a metal piece with 2 bolts that is on the side? There is like a "slot" of plastic coming off the bumper cover that sort of locks in behind that metal piece to line everything up. In my wifes front end wreck, it broke off! It looks like its designed that way to minimize damage to other more expensive parts. I bet you lost all those plastic pins underneath too. I worked on mine for days trying to get it all back right. I ended up buying a car bra to "tighten" everything up and hold it tight. Its been perfect since. I couldnt find that 2 bolt clip anywhere.

I still think by the description that hes talking about the brackett that is actually on the fender. There are 2 bolts that hold like a small metal plate. theres a lip on the bumper cover that slides in behind it to hold everything square. If it breaks off, the bumper will sag and the headlight will "appear" to not set in real well. If it is that molded piece pictured above that sucks becuase its all one piece. You have to replace the whole thing instead of just the side the damage is on. Plus, that piece above will not bent or change shape, it will just crack. Its like fiberglass. So if this dude says its not lining up right its because something else is out of line unless a piece of that broke off. If that is the case and he still has the pieces, there is a high strength glue that works. I know becuase Ive used it on that part and it has been fine for a while.

that piece i showed is not fiberglass, it's off a thick flexible plastic, that can crack. I know it can, because mine has a crack in it.
