It actually has nothing to do with the tuner itself but the tune that is uploaded. The experience and knowledge of the tuner with your particular car and mods and what determines how much of a gain you will see.

A dyno tune can be really helpful once you have a few mods on and will definitely be needed when working with forced induction and/or nitrous.

lets put it a lil simpler as i mean to say if the Xcal2 puts put set numbers for ur car in a flash the Sniper tool has better numbers simple and this comparison is based on a *stock vehicle* not to mention the guy who did my tuning helped SCT and Diablo when coming up

if you get a generic tune yeah the x-cal has set numbers but it is all it the tune you can use fords tuning equipment and write the best tune ever it is the tune not the tuner.

A dyno tune for a stock or bolton car probably won't yield much gains over the tune you would get from Justin at VMP with a chip, xcal, or LW. He's been doing this for a while and is good at it. The car's ecc is pretty good at adapting to the changes from boltons. Once you change the engine's flow dramaticly by installing a cam or forced induction, a dyno tune is a must to see full potential and keeping it safe. Some other parts of a tune that's benefitial are the adjustments to an automatics shift shedule. Autos will get firmer more solid shift points. You can also raise the factory rev limiter. Will it make your car a screaming demon ready to take on v8s? No. But I've read from owners of cars with autos that the improvements to the shifts were worth it alone.
