Dyno Tune?
Ok I'm tired of thinking about it. What is a dyno tune. Can you get a dyno tune from ANYONE who has a Dyno, by dyno i mean the thing you run your car on to see your HP/TQ. I'm not understanding... Is the dyno tune something different than the X-Cal, or are they the same thing... just a tuner or something...
what i mean by this last question is, which is better. if i get a x-cal, will i still need a dyno tune, or if i get a dno tune, will i still need an x-cal? or are they both just tunes, and the dyno tune is just better than the x-cal, and the x-cal is just cheaper... pleaseeeee fill me in.

can you have a x-cal2 and then have a dyno tune and they work together, or is it one or the other. because it says it only added 8rwph for my year 3.8.

justin, the best way to get a tune is this. Buy an Xcal2 or a livewire. They come preloaded with 3 tunes as it is. It just messes with all the "computer" internals to make your car perform better. like air/fuel ratios, etc.

and for an extra 125 dollars you can get the digital readout of your a/f ratios and screw with it yourself to what you want. the only point to a dyno is to measure your hp after they are done and before they start.

In addition, when you tune a car the VIN is locked into the tuner until the car is returned to stock. In response to the original question, an XCal is typically enough for most cars. A dyno tune will help to extract every bit of performance that is available from your car. The XCal is general and the dyno tune is specific if that helps. |

the x-cal is what gives you the hp. the dyno just shows everything to make it easier, instead of guessing. One doesnt do more than the other. The X-cal does the actual tuning, the dyno just shows the numbers, and the tuners work with that.

technically you could do it stock. Best to do it after you free up about 40-50 horsepower though. you notice a bigger difference.

usually when you have a car with forced induction and your just gettin it setup. Thats usually. you can also get it for a n/a car or nitrous car and you want to squeeze all the hp out of it. Usually good when you have your setup the way you want it, and you just want to finish it off.

Sniper Tuning has a programmer that would put out better numbers then the Xcal2 and works on almost every ford application 96-05+ and the best part is it can be used on 2 different cars not just locked to 1...

theres nothing like getting ur car tuned on a dyno and not just flashed.....because only then can u see more potential with the car...tho some people are better then others thats the best way to get results...i wouldnt bother getting on a dyno with no tuning....u dont need a dyno if you just flash it was a hand held for the most part.....just save up and get a Dyno tune

performance shops. Usually good to get one done right after you have some form of forced induction put on, if you go with nitrous, or after your setup is done the way you want it to be.
