Odd sound
Havent posted in awhile but I figure this is probably the best place to ask...
On occassion and it's not everytime, when Im driving, sometimes right before I accelerate and right before I stop, the car will "clunk". It sounds like when you have too much stuff in the back of your car and it all rolls forward to hit the trunk walls. I noticed it was worse when we had 20-40 degrees here. |

Sticky lifter would give more of a flutter, exhaust leak type sound upon acceleration. Possibly something suspension wise, and motor mount possible... but yeah kinda vague, more of an area of the car, or a better description of when it occurs.

Mine does the same thing but it's because my rear control arm bushings are worn out.

WHat about the bodies in the trunk, they could be shifting!!
Actually is it a clunking from the rear end? Sounds like you could have a bearing going in the rear diff. |

its a clunk from the rear. Best example would be if you had a car with a non-secured spare tire in the trunk and when you stopped or kicked off fast when accelerating, it would roll around and hit the trunk walls.

+1 And after that, check out your spring isos, and all the bushings in the rear suspension, as well as the rear brakes. And make sure your gas tank isn't able to move around...

Have you checked to make sure that one of the shocks hasn't broken a mounting bolt?
It's gotta be something simple just have to find it. I also wonder if it is backlash in the rear differential. I had noise in mine a few years ago and ended up rebuilding (new bearings and seals) when I changed to 3.73s. |
