Foglights???

Can I splice my foglights into my headlights? I wasnt sure if this was possible or if i have to go through my center console like all the write ups say.
Thank you.

It is technically possible but I would strongly advise against it. One good reason is that its illegal (in all states I believe) to have your fogs and high-beams on at the same time. Unless you wired it up so that they were only on with the low beams.

If I were you I'd just get the proper fog light wire and harness:
97-04 Foglight Wiring Harness for V6 LX
and one of these

Mustang 01-04 Fog Light Switch by Ford

I'm planning on getting those two items when I switch over to a cobra front bumper.

You could do it by splicing into the low beam power wire for your head lamps.

When you turn on your high beams the fogs would go out, thus staying legal. I'm sure you could share the headlight ground too. However I would put an inline fuse for each fog lamp.

The only issue that I see is that if a short occurs you won't only lose your fog lamp, you might lose that sides head lamp too.

I just put foglights on my 05, but I bought the wiring kit. It only took about an hour or so to install the wiring, I took my time when I made the hole in my dashboard for the switch. Foglights go off when the high beams come on with the wiring harness kit.

In my opinion, i would just wire in a switch for your foglamps. That is what i did for my car. I wired them up, and put a fuse inline and then just have a cool switch i bought. It lights up when i flip my foglights on and then i can shut my foglights off when i do not want them on.

It's very simple to do. Use an add a fuse and wire it to the fuse box and run it to a switch (rocker switches are the best looking for the interior imo). then from the switch run a line out to your foglights

ya the biggest pain is getting the wires through the firewall. just make sure when you drill a hole that you do not drill into anything under the dash, and make sure to use a gromet, or a tight fitting rubber tube to prevent the wires from rubbing through the insulation.

There is no reason to drill into the firewall at all

Just pass the line through the grommet already in place for the stock wiring

I'd recommend you just buy the OEM foglight switch(can be had for 15-25$) and wire them that way.

We have the correct wiring and plug sitting under our center console so all you really need to do is plug the switch into that, add a wire to the connector under the front drivers fender where the wire ends and then add a relay for power from your battery.

How was you not able to fit anymore wires through it? It's fuckin huge

I have 4 gauge wire for my amp and 2 8 gauge wires running through there...A foglight wire doesn't need to be big at all...just a little 12 gauge line

We have the correct wiring? I have no wiring... Or else I would just buy the oem switch. This is why im thinking about buying a cheapo one and hiding it somewhere.

04stang... if your just looking for pigtails and fogs not the whole set you can find them cheap on ebay!

Unless the previous owner cut the connectors out, they should be in there. They're just hiding from normal view. If you open the center arm rest, remove the 2 rubber stops, remove the 2 screws, then remove the "pocket" (I guess you could call it) then you'll be able to see inside the center console. In there are 2 connectors that completely stock V6s have no use for. One of them is for a fog light switch. The OEM fog light switches are exactly the same size as the coin holders and it just so happens the connector is located right by the coin holders. Pop a coin holder out, pop the OEM switch in, connect the fog light connector and it'll look like the car came straight from the factory with fog lights.

This is what I did to put foglights in my car, it was super easy and only took about 3 hours..would've taken less time but I had to go to the store to buy a proper screwdriver...just get one with a really long neck.
