Longtubes

Ok, I am going to buy lts for my car here this spring. I have about 2 grand to spend on upgrades, and I already figured out what I plan on doing. The question I have is with lts i know that i will have to modify my midpipe. I am going to just weld my own. I am looking at keeping one set of cats. Ok so which cats should i weld into my custom midpipe? Also if I keep just one set of cats will i need mil eliminators, or will i get a code?

thanks

I do not have to worry about emissions in my area. I just want to keep the cats on because of sound, and also if i get pulled over it is a fine for having no cats. I just do not know which cat to keep the fron one or the back one? I am planning on just welding them into my custom midpipe. Then would i need to get mil eliminators or would i not?

you wont need mil eliminators because you can turn off your o2 sensors with your xcal3. as for keeping a pair of converters, it doesnt really matter which ones you keep

when was the last time somebody had a cop check under their car for cats when they got pulled over? lol I mean I'm just curious cause I've never heard of it. You could always just gut your cats. And I have a question too...does turning off your 02s affect how your car runs at all? I mean because then it wouldn't be running on your O2s which would be like running in open loop if I'm not mistaken. I'm just wondering because I'll probably delete or gut mine really soon too now that I have the supercharger going on.

good question ^. i just want the cats on too because the little difference that no cats make in my mind is not worth the emissions my car would put out. idk maybe call me an enviornment freak, but it would make me feel a little better lol. and i want to know on the question about turning the rear o2s off.

California is the only place I've ever heard of shit like that happening. But as far as I know they're big on stopping street racing and making sure cars are legal. I was watching a show a while back (I don't remember what it was called) but a bunch of street racers got pulled over and even the ones not racing had to pop their hoods and were lucky if they got a shit load of tickets because some cars were straight up getting towed.

You would have to replace the cats when you go to sell the car if you gut the cats bc its a Federal Offense

i would keep the back cats because the front ones have a bend in them and it would just be easier to go with the straight ones.

I put resonators in place of my cats. And my car is so low to the ground if he wants to get up under there and figure it out, then more power to him. I am in Oklahoma though, I could drive with open headers and they would be like "awesome car man, how much power does it make".

Yeah and I really don't have to worry about anyone checking my car here in Ohio. And I'm not selling it...probably ever...after this much money in it, there's no reason too when I'd only get around 5k prolly. And it's only got 50k on it. But YES answers on ^ would be great...though I do think it's just all in your tune when you turn your 02s off.

just make sure you don't run over/hit anything that might bust a flang or hit your o2's, always be cautious.

i've hit every speed bump there is in town until i got my flangs cut out and had them just weld everything together so my exhaust is basically permanent unless I cut it all out, that's ones a way of solving clearance problems.

ok, i got another question. Well i plan on running nitrous either this year or next. If i turn the rear 02s off can i use the spot where they screw in for a wideband air fuel gauge? If not i should probably just weld in the threads and put an air fuel gauge in. Just so i do not have to crawl under my car and weld twice. it gets to be tight not having a hoist.
