Quest to beat a v8

So my friend has a stock v8 and knows shit about cars.(not saying I know a whole lot but I can get around) but anyways he won't stop bragging about his v8 and how much more power it has then my 6er. How many mods would it take to show him up? I was thinking after my exhaust, gears and t-lok, and shifter I would try and shut him up. I already have a k&m ram air intake. And since I've gotten my mustang bout 2 weeks ago I've learned the best feeling I've ever had is showing up all those ricers in there civics woth fart tubes!!

Stock you're running about 190 at the crank.

Stock V8s run about the following, all as measured at the crank:

5.0 - 225
4.6, NPI - 235
4.6, PI - 265
4.6, 3v - 300-315
4.6, N/A DOHC - 305-320
4.6, S/C DOHC - 390 (underrated)
5.4, S/C DOHC - 500-550

You're a little lighter by nature of your smaller motor, so you won't need to match those numbers to be equal.

Gears will be a great help, a 75 shot of nitrous should push you past most stock GTs. If you're chasing cobras, your cheapest/easiest route will be boost.

Also depends on how you're racing. I'm assuming straight-line from a dig.

If you have a manual, i believe that if it is a 99-04 and you have a 99-04 you could take hime with 3.73s, tlok, cai, dual exhaust, udps, cai, tune, and then a windstar. I really think that would take him. It also depends on if he can drive. I have raced a bunch of ppl in my car with cars that should kill my v6 and i beat them. I beat a fricken 350z with dual exhaust, cai, udp, tune and a 5spd. That car should have killed me, but the guy was not a good driver. I would recommend doing your gears and exhaust and shifter and then try. If he has the older pre 99 gt you should be able to take him with gears.

full bolt-ons, gears and a t-lock, and a prayer that his car isn't modded and he can't drive worth a shit

or you could just do gears, t lock and a blower and walk him

yeah... really we're gonna have to know what v8 its being compared to to know exactly what is necessary to be even or faster... the basics have been covered already.

Two ways:

1. Spend as much, if not more, money as you would for a supercharger on all the bolt ons. Even then you probably wont win unless you are against someone who cant drive or a sloppy running GT (newedge or newer). You could probably take on foxbodies that are near stock.

2. Buy a supercharger/turbo and deffinately win.

I do not agree with above. Maybe in a full blown 1/4 mile but on the street with good set of gears, full bolt ons, some decent driving you should take him or at least be close. If you are not, then you can always get a windstar and cam, and then you will beat him, or you could get a 75 shot of nitrous.

The driver factor is huge too.

Yeah I agree with the disagreement, you can win without dropping 3 grand or more. Weight reduction is a free mod, and the stock 2vs don't have THAT much on the sixxers. We are still assuming same year and all. Gears/t-lok and tune with bolt-ons, some suspension work and you're MAYBE at 3k and beating that v8.

if he is an auto and it is stock it will be a mid 14 sec car, maybe even worse if he can't drive.

bolt-ons and gear/t-lock will make it a very good race.

are you auto or manual?

if all you wanna do is shut up this one guy I would just get spray and call it a day.

its about a $600 investment but when you think about all the other mods you would need to go just as fast your really making out on the deal.

or you could swap out with somebodys de-badged GT for the race LOL.

I would just try doing some of the basic mods that we listed above, then race him, and see how it is. If you want to save some money you could just buy nitrous, unless you plan on modding your car in the futur then I would just buy the mods.

How do you suck at driving a stock auto if you're straight line racing? I'm pretty sure stock auto gt's do not have the power to spin tire from a dig without power braking. I never understood the whole "I need to beat you because" mentality.

What you SHOULD do is:
1) Spend boat loads of money to upgrade so you can beat your friend, and then get walked by all the camaros, firebirds, and newer mustangs yet
2) Buy a cobra or gt, and spank him. Do so because you want the car, not because you want to beat your friend
3) Have a contest and see who can drive his car better
4) Call him a cunt, and tell him his car is slow compared to almost every sports car out there.
