racin gears


ok so i heard u guys talk about the 4:10's and there good for gettin a good start out the whole...but i need something that will help me out the whole and for top speed... wat would be ur suggestions on gears for me

what kind of racing are you going to do? 4.10's won't hurt your top speed much and will give you great acceleration.

i was just drivin on the highway and i have 4.10 gears and it didnt hurt my top speed at all. And i got there a lot quicker

you can actually go faster in application than theory with 4.10s over a stock ratio of 2.73 or 3.27. the applied physics of gear ratios and accelerated force prove this.

ok i do drags and sprints..i just wan it to jump off the line but not lose top speed

gears, frpp gears can be found all across the net avg.ing at about 200 bucks, same for frpp t-lok differential. i got mine from "drivetrain specialists" off ebay. they offer all kinds of package deals

And if you want some better pickup a split port swap would be nice.

i drive manual and i raced my bud in a gt he has 4.10s and i beat him off the line but he put it in 2nd and went past me like i was sleeping. his first gear is really freaking short.

Its a general rule of thumb... I don't know too many guys with 4.10s in manuals save the LS1 guys I hang out with

dont fear the gear (how many times have i seen that somewhere).... go 4.10s or forget it, lol... i just put 3.73 in my 00 v6 and now i regret not going with the 4.10s. of course, i havent put any long distance mileage on mine yet,lol.

turbos need to spool. gears get you through the rpm band quicker by multiplying torque and accelerating quicker. you get to spool rpms quicker... nothing but beneficial imo.
