2000 3.8l
Hey guys, im new to this forum. It is everything I have been looking for. I have been reading through a couple of threads and im wondering what parts i should buy, im hoping to get some ideas based off the experience you guys have. What I have now is a 3.8l v6 mustang. its a 2000 and all i have done to it so far is a cold air intake and a dual exhaust. Im looking for any ideas you may have. Im looking for some headers, I would reall like long tubes but I cannot seem to find any. I also plan to get 4.10 gears, and maybe an 8.8" differential. Im also looking for an intake manifold, ive read that people do something with the windstar one. and ideas or input would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks Bill |

Long tubes are a bitch to find for our cars. MAC and Pacesetter are the only 2 I'm aware of but I can't seem to find the Pacesetters anymore (there were a bunch on ebay but they're gone). MAC however is readily available from multiple sites. I think Stangmods.com has them.
4.10 gears are a great idea but you need a 7.5" differential (limited slip aka tlok) and your gears should be 7.5" as well. If you want 8.8" gears you'll need the rear end off a Mustang GT. The GTs had tlok so unless you want to upgrade to something better than factory, you won't need a new differential for a GT rear. Windstar intakes are pretty sweet. I'm looking into one myself. They're said to add something like 10hp but if nothing else, EGR delete + windstar intake makes the engine bay look oh so sexy. If you want to start with those mods, you'd have a good foundation going. There's plenty of other things to be done, but it's a good idea to not get ahead of yourself ![]() Also, welcome to MM

deffinatly going to go with long tubes from mac, thanks for the website, the idea of going with an 8.8" diff was to avoid having to buy tlok. and i would just put 4.10 gears in the 8.8"

new jersey, I was wondering about long tubes, with long tubes you do not need a down pipe from the headers to the cats, they just bolt right up correct? also on stangmods.com they stated that to use the long tube headers you need a o2 sensor wire to make it longer. im deffinatly looking into long tubes, the sound that it produces i tend to like more. any more info on the intake manifolds? supersix motorsports confuses me about what I actually need. thats for all the help aready guys, this forum is awesom

The kit from VAP comes with an air intake tube that should run far enough for the MAF to connect and the filter would go directly on the MAF and into the fender. So all you'll need is a new filter to go on it. K&N is generally preferred. |

hey sorry I didn't get back to you sooner about that...I meant I had a stock upper intake manifold ported and polished. And another guy said he'd take it the same day I posted it on here. yeah, the windstar is completely different.
