I'd say paint it then or save for an engine rebuild Since you do have like $3K, why not do an engine swap to a 5.0 or just buy a fox?

Speaking of getting cobra's and stuff, i'm just waiting for the 3v prices to drop even lower. Then, when i get a better job, 3v it is, or a cobra if i make enough at that time.

sounds likes you really want to paint it. so step up and do something a little better than cheap. you will have to live with it. i striped mine down myself. bumpers.sails, handels, lights ect..gave it to a painter at a dealership, (side job). still paid $2500 with wet sand and buff. took me about 6 hours to strip it for him and same to put it back together.that probably saved me a grand.

I might have to consider this. I got an email back from one place saying $5500. That's a little pricey..

Alright I got a question about wheels for you guys. I've actually got my AM cart nicely loaded and ready to go so once I get my quotes for paint jobs I'll either place the order with AM or get the car painted. In my cart I have tlok, 4.10 gears, SCT tuner, motive bearing kit, and 2010 GT Premium wheels + tires (I'll probably pick up a GT bumper elsewhere and simply get the worst parts of the car repainted). But I've got a question about the tires. I heard wider tires up front tend to ride with the grooves in the road. AM recommends 275/35/18 tires for the 9" wide wheels and 285/35/18 for the 10" wheels (staggered ftw). I don't want to go that wide up front, so would something like a 245/40/18 work on a 9" rim to help reduce how much the car will follow the grooves in the road?

I for one plan to buy a Cobra or newer GT500 when I am done with college (hopefully). I would stop modding the 6, but since I plan to keep the car I dont mind spending money on it.

I am not going to deep into performence tho for that reason.

HOWEVER, if I was in your situation, I would either paint the whole car or pain just the roof to get ride of the rust spot and use the left over money for parts.
me too! Im not putting any money into making it go faster, because that will just be a sunk cost in the end. Im doing looks, but only when I can get a good deal (like cobra bumper with fogs, bezzels, and chin spoiler for $250 ). I even have a savings account named Cobra

My suggestion would be paint. I was driving for a year or so with a primed hood and front bumper, worse then your scenario, but I hated it. You know that's the first thing people notice on your car. You could be a quick six with the mods you want, but then get the "Yeah but look at it." stigma. Not that you should be as concerned with what other people are thinking, but I like my car to look nice when I get in it. I say if you plan on doing both paint and mods, just need to do one before the other, I would get the paint. And unless you want show room, don't spend more than $2500 on a paint job.

245 wide tires will be fine on 9" rim. This is what I run, and still wish for smaller up front. I wouldn't want any wider.

Search around forums (especially 3.8mustangs.com). Most people sell used prochargers or vortechs for 2500

True for any car you mod. Even cobras. put 30k into it and see what someone will pay.

my friend bought an 03 cobra and put money into it and basic sold it for what he payed initially for it. all the mod money went bye bye. and since he sold it the prices on them have come down even more so.

+1. If you're gonna mod it you better plan on keeping it or hope someone will want to trade another modded car for it.
