From What I have read and heard.

Shorty Headers: Do not flow very differnt then stock and are just a visual upgrade for 300-400 bucks.
Long Tube Headers: Give you a good proformance upgrade worth the 300-400 bucks but you will have trouble with emmisions and ground clearence depending where you live, also they are a bitch to put in.

I have decided to stay away from headers for the time being and think there are more wise choices of mods for the money that will work better and wont give you a headache. Thats im sure others will chime in. Welcome to MM btw

Welcome. Here is how I feel on shorty headers. I think that they obviously have to add performance, just look at them compared to stock. They will help you retain more torque down low. LTs they are more of a pain to install, especially if you have already redone your exhaust. I also do not know about the performance of the LTs, but from what people have said you lose torque down low. As far as sounds, LTs are louder, but shortys will give you a little louder tone, and clearer. LTs will give you a lot louder tone that is clearer also.

Those are all of my opinions, I know people on here are going to say shorty headers are a waist, but I think you will gain a couple hp, and you will also get some sound. LTs if you have the skill to put them in and do not care if you car is extremely loud then go for it.

Realize what year his car is. The shorties actually give better gains on the s197 then they do on the new edge. As said above, they are basically not worth it on a s95. However, I would still recommend long tubes. I think spending the hundreds of dollars on shorties would leave you wishing for more. I.e. feeling like they weren't worth it.

stock exhaust manifolds flow good enough you don't need shorties or longtubes until your flowing enough air. Stock will be fine IMO until you start doing big stuff like cam/heads/intakes/all bolt-ons/blown, etc...

Ok, this is random but I do not think that shorties are as bad as everyone makes them out to be. The 10sec v6 mustang runs shorty headers. I mean if you look at them they have to flow better. I am not saying that they are going to be the same as LTs, but I think that shorties from what I have heard on youtube, make your car louder and are quieter than LTs but similar sounding. I think too that they will give you a couple hp, and the LTs may give you like 2-3 more hp but I think shorties are still a good mod.

I replaced my manifolds with shorties because they were cracked and also the shorties were less expensive than the ford manifolds.

I could have gotten it welded but I didn't want to bother with it.

I noticed an volume increase and maybe a tiny bit of torque, but it's hard to tell. I think they're worth it if you've already done your exhaust and just want the finishing touch.

You don't lose anything with LT's it just moves your powerband.

well, Lts give you the impression of losing torque, but it really just gives you more power high up in the power band. And like RFM said, i feel shorty's are nice if you are just looking for a little bit of volume, and a slight performance increase, and you already have your exhaust done.

I do say LTs are better performance wise, but shorties have there place.
