New '04 Mustang owner looking for advice.
So, I'm new to these forums, and new to the Mustang. This is my first car, it's an electric blue '04 Mustang, 45k miles, v6 automatic. I'm looking for a few ways to spruce up the car, both as far as body work and engine work. At this current moment I don't have much to put into it, but over the coming weeks I'll be getting several hundred dollars every 2 weeks from my jobs.
To be more specific: I'm looking for body kits that are classy, I want my car to look sleek but not riced out. Racing stripes, skirts, etc. I am also looking for anything that will make it faster. Quick additions are preferable, but I do also have a very good friend that is a mechanic, so I have assistance for more detailed work. Thank you for any and all suggestions you may have. |

well as appearance goes.. most kits i don't like.. just go to google and search for mustang body kits or ground effects.. a couple of the best looking ones imo is the saleen and roush kits
for performance.. hopefully one of the other guys will respond because im still learning this stuff, haha

saleen or roush kit
or if you want a nice look that'll be much cheaper rims, Mach chin spoiler, mach 1 grill delete and lowering springs or kit. quick performance mod cheap: cold air intake- ebay-$20+shipping-3-5hp-30min to and hour to install wire and screeming demon coil pak- $150-$200(for both)-an hour or 2 to install or less c springs-$150-help handling-3hours or 4 to install..easy gears-$150, helps acceleration ALOT since im guessing or assuming you'll ask, replacing you gears with 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, 4.30 with your stock 3.27 gears will increase your acceleration greatly and totally worth it. the recommend gears are 3.73s or 4.10s ebay has them i would also get a t-lok with it ehxuast: Long tube headers-$300-15-20hp Mac o/r H pipe- $160 i think...good sound not really worth much hp but its the ONLY THING that will directly bolt on to long tube headers Mac cat back-worth a few hp and good sound Underdrive pulleys-25% crank pulley and alt pulley with belt.$250 now. worth about 8rwhp through out the entire powerband. OR you can always throw on a power adder also see this for more information: http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...s-vt11036.html

Thanks guys, I'll get cracking on that once the money starts coming in. The good news is that I paid up front for my car so I don't have payments to worry about.

For the gears, you say 3.73 or 4.10, that's the gear ratio correct? Also, what should I search for to find them on Ebay or somewhere like that?
(forgive me as I'm also somewhat of a car noob, this is actually my first personal vehicle, so I don't have much hands-on experience). |

depends on what you want. if your looking for a lot of power for this car. like for it to do 12s and lower you'll need a 8.8 rear instead of your 7.5 rear end if your just geting bolt ons i'd get 4.10s if your going for FI i'd get 3.73s in a 5speed

I don't live on campus any more, my last name is Bowen.
I was going to post a borla exhaust that I'm looking at, but apparently I can't do that yet. |

Ah, that's unfortunate. Any other suggestions then, specifically for my v6 auto (3.8)?
Gonna have some gears to put in by mid month or so, depending on shipping. And on the exhaust, I'm looking for something that will add power and give it a nice, deep sound. I don't want a shitty muffler or any of that riced out honda crap that people slap on. |

most suggestions you will get for exhaust is Flowmaster, Mac, and Magnaflow. all are good brands with good sound. it would be your preferance really. and with our even firing engins, any exhaust will sound kinda ricey in the higher rpm's, until you get an aggressive cam
