v6 3.8l 8.8 rear end?

Long time lurker, first time poster. What do I need to install an 8.8 rear end? Can I just buy the axels and keep the center piece or should I buy a new rear end? I am new to modding my mustang so any help would be appreciated..Also I was wondering do those chips on ebay actually work? has anybody used them with any success? Thanks again..

Don't buy those worthless chips. I don't know much about them but I'm guessing they're the same thing as the chips you can buy from AM, but the ebay ones have shitty tunes that will fuck your car up. If you want a chip, buy one from AM and get either a custom or mail order tune for it. Better yet, get a handheld tuner.

As far as rear ends, yes you'll need to replace the whole rear end not just the axles. Bigger axles are no good if you're still running the sixxer differential. I don't know much about rear end swaps, but I know that much

Mcqueen is right about the chips, Go for the tuner if you can.

As for the rearend you need the whole rearend assembly as it's bigger than the stock 7.5. Nothing special is needed to put it in. It will bolt right up. But unless your planning on putting down big power in the future or get a smoking deal on a 8.8 your better off upgrading your 7.5. Just get a 7.5 t-lok and some new gears and you'll be flying. Most people go with 3.73's if they have a 5 speed and 4.10's if they have an automatic.
