Half Shafting a tb

Ok, so i was reading an article on how to half shaft a throttle body. I was just a little confused. Ok, so are you just polishing the bore of the throttle body? or are you grinding away some of the metal on the shaft that holds the butterfly? I looked at the how to article on rpm-mustang or some site like that. Thanks I was jc. Also has anyone done this? and does it make any difference?

you are grinding the shaft only! i did this and cant tell much difference. Mabe a little on the high end but dont expect wheelies. Its cool telling people you did it then.

Ok thanks. that is what i thought. Do you grind the glat part where the butterfly sits in? or the part where the bolt heads are, the article confused me. I was jc. I know it says that you can use a fine sandpaper wheel to polish just make sure not to get to close to the edge where the butterfly sits.

ha, that would be sweet to pull a wheelie off the line like the charger in the fast and the furious when he races the toyota supra.

i think you grind the head part and not!!! the threaded part or it wont hold itself on. j/k with the wheelies i pull them all the time. just like fast and furious no its a cool mod though just take your time and itll go smooth.

Ok, that makes since, because then when the throttle plate is open there will be less restriction due to that huge ripple in the middle.

A cheap trick is buy use a stock gt tb(Bolts right up). You must relocate the iac though. It can be punched to 70mm.

jt thanks. And that is no problem for doing the IAC because I am planning on running the windstar upper so i will be doing that anyways. So 99-04 gt throttle body is 70mm? and will bolt up, all is needed to change is the IAC? If so thanks so much

It will bolt up but you may need to open the intake to the same size as the tb. It will bolt up. Can be ported to 70mm...stock is roughlly 68mm maybe

nah...shouldnt need retuned for bigger tb. Hell...I swap from a 4.0" on the street to a 3.6" pulley for the track which is about 6 more psi and I dont need to add any fuel on the handheld. The maf will compensate if tuned properlly.
