leaks
I have long tube header leaks at the gaskets where the headers meet the engine would that create all these codes and poor running?

You may have alot more going on than you think. Have the codes been popping since you installed the LTs?
I would suggest getting it "smoked". With the engine off, theres a machine that pushes smoke into the tips at pressure so it seeps out all the cracks and leaks. This way you can identify all the obvious. Seafoam isnt going to cut it. After that, you are going to have to check the EGR system. Maybe even delete it completely. You could also be getting codes and poor performance because of the new length between the o2 sensor and the engine. This can create problems and it needs to be "tuned" out by professional....along those lines, have you done any datalogs? |

Also, did you delete none, 2 or all 4 cats? What tuner are you using? What mufflers do you have? Is the acceleration sluggish and "boggy" feeling? Are you using an aftermarket CAI? Dude, you got a mess.

I have Longtubes, cold air intake, no cats, no tuner, auto trans
A while back I hit a rock which cracked my driver side flange. Got it repaired but ever since I've had all these codes all having to do with emissions, and exhaust monitoring etc. Before collision I had no codes what so ever and the mil elims were doing their jobs. I replaced all oxygen sensors, and no luck. I do have a puffing sound coming from exhaust, its constant and gets louder as acceleration but goes away due to my exhaust being so loud and i eventually cant hear it. It sounds like a loud ticking, or pshh-pshh-pshh but fast. (been driving it like this for about a year with all the codes) I have a extreme loss of power, acceleration, car vibrates time to time at idle, car shifts awkwardly but not all the time, mostly when trying to accelerate faster from a stop, but if I drive slow it shifts fine most of the time. I found a leak in my intake manifold gasket by a use of seafoam which a shop has to replace for free. While at it I had them use a stethoscope to figure out where this pshh-pshh-ticking was coming from and they find it coming from the driver side header where the header meets engine. The sound from the stethoscope sounded like a slight tinging sound, a bit hard to describe. Last edited by Stang187; February 9th, 2010 at 11:02 PM. |

You're running lean among many other things. What you are hearing is detonation. Your engines days are limited.
BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE...get an XCALIII handheld and run some SHORT datalogs and get the data to a qualified tuner. The engine is confused...you need to retune the engine for "no cats" and only a good qualified tuner can do that for you. I would not drive that thing another mile without doing this. Dont take my word for it....pull a plug and look at the condition. I'll be its showing signs of running lean and hot. |

yea, that's really not good to do. longtubes and no cats are 2 of the things that you NEED to be tuned for. You'll be lucky if your engine lasts even after getting it tuned now if you've been driving it long like that.

Thats great that you just changed the plugs...no matter how new they are, it will show signs of problems with even just a few miles of driving in your condition.
Take a second and just pull a plug and take a good look at it. USe this chart. Verrill: Plug Color Chart This will take more than Im capable of. Im not the expert you need. I can only hope this raised some questions. Do a key word search here on "detonation", "catless", "tuning". A tune is the first thing that will help. Contact Trick Tuners in the vendors section. He's the professional that may be able to get you on track. http://www.tricktuners.com/Information.htm Last edited by JASonic; February 11th, 2010 at 05:19 PM. |
