I think that in certain situations you can easily gain 20 hp. If you have a car with ported heads, intake, and full bolt ons and you are running the stock tune, then you dyno tune it and use 93 you will see a 20 hp gain between the run on the stock tune and on the 93. I know you guys are talking about just stock tunes, but i bet you can get right around 10 hp.

Gains have been seen of up to 20rwhp and 22 lbs of torque on stock 99-04 v6's . But that dose not stand for ever case.

hmm, interesting. i may have to get a new tune. i made the mistake of buying the tuner with preloaded tunes on it so i do not get the free tunes from am. i tried calling them but the guys was like la de da. lol. so i figured whatever i can deal with it. so i am just running pretty basic tunes. i will have to get a custom one this spring when i get my mods done. hopefully it makes a big difference.

oh, well if we're talking about a dyno tune, or with other mods that previously didn't have a tune , then yeah probably a bit over 20 hp. But just the tunes you get on a tuner aren't going to get that.

There's a special software required for most of the tune and I believe it's quite expensive. Once you have the tune then your handheld tuner will allow you to adjust a number of options, but you can't adjust options for most parts.

I know vmp tuning sells the kit for tuning stuff your self. i do not know how much the software is, but they have the software, and then a little manual to help yourself out in tuning.

ok, so i just looked at vmp. and they offer the racer tuning software. it is 349 and then they have a manual for more money. but that is not too bad. they recommend getting a custom tune from them, then you can change a lot more settings from their tune, or you can simple tune it all yourself. you will need your sct tuner tho.

I guess $349 wouldn't be that bad, especially if you get good with it and tune other peoples' cars.

i do not know if that allows you to tune other peoples cars since it is only the racers software? so maybe it locks to the car you have, i do not know.
