Stripes on a 2001 v6?yes or no
Want to get stripes on my stang. its 2001 only 60k miles so was gonna buy a newer mustang but this still has low mileage so figure throw some stripes on it...just not sure how easy it is to do.Ive seen some that are like decals or could paint. Whats nicest?easiest?cheapest?llasts and looks decent?
It is silver so I would have to pick black or go crazy with like red or green. any ideas for color, what stripes if so..thanks |

nicest is going to be painted. Will also look the best and last the longest.
Cheapest is probably the vinyl. I vote for black.

there are vinyl stripes that look good and are easy to put on
Black Mustang Lemans Stripes - 8in (79-11) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping! painted stripes will most likely look the best, but you will need to get them painted and then another clearcoat im thinking Imo with silver go black.

How hard is it to do?my friend has some knowledge but ive been told its hard to line up the stripes.. do you just like tape everyhting off and spray? I was thinking to do 2 down the hood, roof, spoiler, back bumper and then paint the lettering the same color...nice little spring project

Nicest would be blue stripes painted-looks awesome on Silver!! Cheapest is vinyl stripes. AM has good quality ones that last for a good 8 years. No blue though, but they do have black.

Well then basically tape, prep, and spray. Then of course clear coat.

Well, there's the easy way and the right way.
The right way is going to be a LOT of work, as you're basically going to be respraying every panel that you're putting the stripes on. That means taking at least the old clear off, masking everything, having a controlled environment to spray in, taping off your stripes, fixing your tape, fixing it again, painting it, painting another coat, praying that you don't screw anything up when you pull the tape, fixing whatever gets screwed up when you do, and then respraying clear (and I'm sure I forgot a few things). Vinyls can look VERY nice. I've seen whole cars done in vinyl rather than paint, though to do this right involves a professional shop and costs about the same as a decent respray. This is a whole vinyl job, the below car is actually white: ![]() The full story with a lot more pictures can be found here: Dressing up for Solo Nationals: 1994 Mazda Miata Turbo Project Car: Grassroots Motorsports Magazine

From what place? AM? If they sell it buy it from them, the lettering and tails are simple installs. Stripes aren't hard, just takes some patience and precision to make it look right, and what are you leaning towards the vinyl obviously if you want to do it yourself?

I vote no stripes... I've always felt that stripes look weird on the new edges.
