Tire selection for my 18x9 rims

Hey, everyone. I'm about to upgrade my stock rims to 18's, I'm just questioning what size tire I should put on. The rim size is 18x9, I want to put 245/40/18 on but people keep recommending 275/35/18....I think the 245s will be fine but I need some help with my decision...any suggestions? Thanks.

I wouldn't go smaller in the rear than a 275, but I like the look

275s are what's considered "right" on a 9" rim, but I think that's too wide. I put 255s on my 17x9s, and it looks just bout perfect - sidewalls are straight up and down. I'd definitely go 245s over 275s, though.

See I think 255s look too small, I had 255s on my 17x9 when I first get them.... and when I rode behind my car I thought it looked too small to be behind a stang.

Oh, I agree 275s look something awesome from the back end. I just think they need to be on a 10" rim to look right from the side.

@ WHT Stang: Thx, I'll try and get some pics up

@ESG: I want to go with the 275s but I think there too wide, could you post some pics of your car.

Anybody out there got a pic of their Mustang with 245s on them, I'd really like to see the diff between the two

Bah, I wish I had 10" rims I would have 315s...

My next set of rims will be 18x9(f)/18x10(r) with 315(r) :

I went staggered with my new wheels but I went 245s up front on the 9" and put 285s on the rear 10". I haven't gotten them on the car yet (damn weather) but I'm running 245s all around on my 17x8 rims and the 245s aren't too bad in the rear.
