Painting underhood components

I'm looking to paint some underhood components, anyone know if I need to use a special kind of paint to account for the heat?

I think there are paints made to handle high temperatures but your best bet it to have the parts powder coated. I think that tends to last the longest.

you could pick up some engine enamel, i think its rated to 500 degrees, might be wrong. its available at any regular auto store. just remember to do it right and prep the shit out of it so it turns out good!

well, you made me want to do some painting. ok, so what if i do not have access to a sand blaster is there any other way i can prepare the metal to be painted? Also i am not much of a painter, but what is this about sanding after you paint? just some help for basics. I am going to be using spray paint, and i am by no means hoping for it to be professional, but i would like it to look nice.

Thanks.

take it to a local machine shop to have it blasted. or power washes. the reason i beed blasted is to get to the original aluim look. then i clear coat with spray can to preserve that look. you dont have to do that. if you want get creative and change color. i didnt sand anything after painting. it will look professional if you take your time and want it. i stated what kind of paint i used above.
GO FOR IT !!

I'm going to be getting that matched spray paint from hovis and try to paint and clearcoat my hood scoop with it when I get it. We did a fender for our taurus that I smashed and it turned out really good.

I meant of the failed 3.8 logo attempt lol. Does the sharpie hold up to heat and weather? Or did you put a clear coat on it? Some will just make it run though.
