Costum made heat shield

Hi I didnt find the newbie introducing thread so here I am!

Driving a 2000 Mustang V6 3.8!

I got a K&N CAI and I tried to costum made a heat shield for the filter( Im experimtenting alot with my sixxer LOL)...

Im not happy with it ( with the K&N shield and my selfmade one out of 4 VA )and ask you know, is there a chance to get that thing completely shielded from the engineheat?

You know like our OEM systems?
Volant does produce some of these but Im not sure if I can just attach the Volant box onto my K&N system and then wich Filter to use...I hope yall people got what I was trying to say in my german influenced way of speaking and await your ideas, suggestions and advices.

I cant upload the pictures I hope someone can get them on here!!!
Jason?

you could use corrugated cardboard and cut some scewers to about 2inches in length then slide them into the side of the cardboard and carefully shut the hood. This will push the little scewers into the cardboard making an almost perfect template of the contours of your hood. then you just trace the templates onto whatever material you are using for your box cut out the pieces and put your box together. Most use some sort of weather stripping along the edges to help seal the box off from the engine bay. If you decide to use weather stripping or something on the edges keep that in mind when cutting your pieces.
