Did this sound happen before or after the tune?
Also does it make this noise when in park or neutral?
The sound started after the tune. I don't think it happens as much in neutral, but it does happen some. The noise doesn't start until around 3k RPM so for normal driving I don't hear it unless I'm getting on the highway or something. I also didn't really hear it once the car was returned to stock, but I'll give it another listen when I go out later. Also, when it looses power I more or less get a low rumble from the car (like it's struggling to stay running). The metallic sound happens at WOT/above 3k RPMs when the car is running well.

So I returned the car to stock today. AM said to reload the tune as sometimes the tunes just don't load right. So I loaded my 93 economy tune and it ran nicely on my way to class. After class I hopped in the car backed out of my spot, and bogged down like crazy when I put my foot on the gas. Pulled back in, returned the car to stock, and it seem to be running alright.

Also, I did the little trick to reset the clutch (pull it up then push it in until it clicks). The pedal is hard to push in now and doesn't feel like it need to move very far to disengage. Is this how it's supposed to be? It felt pretty mushy before so I'm not complaining, just making sure this is how it's supposed to be.

I had a ford explorer that had a similar problem, i'd crank it and then it would bog down cut off...it only did it when it was cold though, the rpm's wouldn't rev up on it's on for some reason.

It's been cold here since October But the car seems like it could idle all day long on the 93 oct tune but once I put it in gear and take off she just doesn't want to go.

Lol if I can't figure this shit out I'm gonna save my money, sell this car, and buy a GT. I emailed AM letting them know going back to stock and retuning didn't help. Waiting to hear back from them and waiting for my fuel filter to show up (along with some other tune-up things. I hate waiting for parts). Hopefully I can get that swapped out today if it comes early enough.

Yea that might of been detonation. Try getting a lower octane tune. I had the same issue when i had my fuego tuner. I ended up having to use the custom tuning side of it

I've got a tune for 87 but I haven't swapped to that since I've got a nearly full tank of 93. I might have to go with a custom tune if a tune up doesn't help and if AM can't figure anything out. I'd like to get some more parts installed before I go buying a custom tune though (although I did see Trick Tuners does free retunes for basically all the stuff I have planned for my car).

Edit: AM says to reload the 93 performance tune (I did the economy when I reloaded) and if it keeps acting up they'll make some adjustments

Mcqueen you wont hurt you car with a 87 tune if you have 93 gas in it.

The gas octane part is for timing. The higher the octane the more advanced the timing. With 93 octane in a car with a 87 tune your really really safe from detonation. With 87 your still safe from detonation. So go throw the 87 on for now and then hit up trick tuners

Thanks for the info man, I was scared to tune it for a lower octane because I'd heard people complaining of their engine knocking when they ran too high of octane.

But I did what AM said and reloaded the 93 performance tune. Took my baby for a nice long drive too. Stopped 2 or 3 times to turn the car off and let it rest for a few minutes since it seemed like it's always been the second or third start up that starts all the trouble. She got up and running just fine each time. 3k-5k RPM and WOT there was no audible detonation. The car is back in the garage for the afternoon until I got to work. That'll be the real test since she'll have had plenty of time to cool down.

And Trick Tuner, you'll be the first person I come running to for a custom tune

That is exactly the opposite. Read the link on detonation.
thanks!

I read through it a few times and it is very helpful. A little update by the way, the car is running well now. I think a tune up and Seafoam and she'll be running just how I want her. So on my way to work I was thinking about it and if the "bogging down" is actually detonation, then it was happening to me long before I loaded the tune, it just got worse for a while with the tune. I'm thinking none of the previous owners kept up on the maintenance very well
