V6 Hood Designs - More Than Two?
I have a 2004 with a V6. I have owned 9 Mustangs and decided I wanted to try building up a V6 instead of a GT or Cobra. The hood on the 40th Anniversary Model has a scoop and stripes for example. The hood has the indention flowing to the front because of the scoop. My hood flows to the rear. By this I mean there is a fake vent about 10 inches or so from the front lip of the hood facing to the rear. I cannot install a scoop because of the design of mine. Was this on a certain model of the V6 rather than a V8 model? I have not been able to find a stripe kit for it either because it would not flow over the hood from the cowel to the front lip. I hope I described this right, I just can't find anything like it on any other Mustang I look at. I can only assume it was on one of the later V6 Mustangs off the assembly line.
Any thoughts on this? |

yeah thats the normal v6 hood... being the last model year of that style they also sometimes came with the GT's fake hood scoop and even heard of a few that managed to escape the factory with the termi heat exchanger hoods..
![]() way you describe it its the same as my hood... there are some sites out there that make stripe kits for them but the ones ive seen that people have put on they just dont look right... least not good ones for twin rally stripes.. if you wanted those id suggest getting them painted on and clear coated over instead... but if you want to stripe the hood to make it a little more unique theres a site that makes decals for the 1" rise in the hood.. site ive been looking at is called... Bob White Decals-Ford licensed Mustang decals, Mustang bumper inserts, and Mustang racing stripes ![]() use to have alot more to pick from but think they downsized the 99-04 stuff awhile back.. |

agreed.. ive pondered getting them in the reflective silver for mine... silver on black looks perfect to me... white on black stands out imo...
but like i said they use to have quite a few other things to pick from for there... stuff that said other things than just "mustang" but they downsized awhile back.. but if you write them they may be able to custom make you one to say what you want... they also have some scoop decals too for the GT guys.. |
