"Special Edition" Emblems On My 03 Convertible.
Just bought my wife an 03' Convertible V6 and it has an oval "Special Edition" Emblem on the fender and on the trunk lid.
Anyone know what's special about it? |

That's as good a guess as any i've heard.
The dealer I got it from thought they were just "thrown on" by the Ford Dealer

Special Edition
Its an oval but its grey and black checkered. It doesn't reference Ford or an Anniversary at all.
I thougt it strange that a dealer would just put them on. I haven't seen any others on all the Mustangs I looked at. |

you can get them if u ask for them, i could walk into the ford dealership and say give methe GT decals andthey wouldsay thank you for your money here you go sir, its definitly not a Special Edition cuz if it was it would be black with a tan interior thats the ONLY color the true special editions were. so i asume that the dealership actually did just toss them on.

2004 was the 40th for the Mustang
2003 was the 100th for Ford Corporate Anniversary Ford made only 717 of the projected 3000 100th Anniversary Mustangs which had special markings inside and out and are Black with Saddle-leather interiors. Ford made a few other 100th Anniversary special-edition models, such as Taurus, F-series Trucks and Focus. http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...2_021220_ford/

alot of the dealerships do their own mod packages are you sure it just wasnt something that they did on their own?
I know DeNooyer Dodge here in albany has a guy named Kim and his special line is called"Kimbo Psycho" I dont think its cool at all because these brand new cars and trucks that he decides to do up himself have to leave with a kimbo psycho emblem and whatnot on them.. I mean obviously these people wouldnt buy them if they didnt like what he did to them but thats not the point. I wouldnt want to drive around with Kimbo Psycho on the back of my car. No one even knows what that means lol |

Ok this is my best guess. Every year when ford is a little down in sales and has spare parts around they will do special editions. May I point out the F-150 heritage line it's all the spare truck parts of that year. Now what Ford has done with mustangs is at the end of the year they throw parts in that dont always have matching numbers. My friend had a Special Edition Mustang that had a engine block that had a totaly different number then the cars itself. We checked with the dealership and they said they did not do anything so we did a carfax report and it wasnt involved in any wrecks that would involve any work on it. So that is my best guest and I hope it helps.

you guys are thinkin to hard... the previous owner probably bought them off ebay and stuck them on top of the original ones. I know this because I changed my emblem to a pony instead of the 'ford'
