Stupid question

Ok, I'm new to owning a mustang. I own a fourth gen mustang A v6 (94-98) I was wondering can I redo the body on it to fit the fourth gen mustang B (99-04) better looking body. I know they share the same frame so in theory it should work. I know on some of my other older cars I could redo the front an rear fenders, hood, trunk an bumpers and get the newer looking body style. Has anyone done this or know if it's possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I've never heard of anybody doin this. It seems like it would be alot of work. It might work though. But then again alot of the exhaust systems don't work on crossover years. That to me seems like they might have slightly different dimensions(not to mention a body kit for a 98 probably won't fit on a 2004). Anybody correct me if I'm wrong

I know the body kits don't match up mainly because the lights aren't the same I believe, That's why I was talking about a full conversion on body panels. I know it's a lot of work but I do body work for a living. so molding isn't a problem. as for the exhaust I was thinking on doing the side pipes so the rear tailpipe fittings on the rear bumper isn't going to be a problem. It's either try this or save for the Roush Body Kit or Saleen Body Kit. I'm not much of a body kit person.

i was looking into this awhile ago when i was going to possible trade my 00 v6 for a 96 GT. It will work but with some hard work. the 99-04 lights can go on 94-98 you just have to cut the metal that seperates the two parts of the lights. there are multiple threads about this but im not sure in what section, probably visual. i would look for you but i dont have time.

Yeah I hear you on the not liking bodykits too much either. But I think that may be your only route other than painstakingly slow trial and error that might not even work out. But your probably alot more knowledgeable than I am working at a body shop. haha well good luck maybe somebody on hear has done it.

I was hoping to avoid the trail an error part. I might just keep it the way it is and call it a day. I bought it for 1500 cause it needed a lot of work damn kid who owned it before me ruined it, wired in fog lights that blew up, messed up the wiring for the firing order, put in the wrong air filter, wrecked the front end, my millage doesn't work (still confused on that one) and bunches of other things that just made her run so badly. but after like a grand I got her running an sounding nice I just need a T.O.B. done. so I thought maybe while in the process of fixing the body up I'd see about switching it over.

The odometer on those models seems to notorious for going out, I've worked on two that have had that problem, never fixed it.

As far as the body work, in my opinion the car itself is not worth that much labor, you know how to do it, so you know how much work that is. For it to still be a stock s95 v6 after all of that... to me isn't worth it. However if you plan to flip this whole car into something, meaning engine/performance work, and having the rest of it match the "newness" of the exterior, then yes, it is a good project car. To just change the body tho... you can find a 99-04 sixxer in need a few fixes like the one you got for around the same price.
