Question about stereo wiring
So, in my 99 Stang, I have a stock am/fm/cassette deck, and below it, a stock cd player. The cd player is very angry. I need to replace it.
I have a deck to put in, but when I went to do it myself yesterday, I noticed that the wiring going to the cd player is actually pretty minimal, compared to the amount of wiring I have room for in my wiring harness for the new deck. I'm assuming that there are no speaker wires attached to the cd player, as they are most likely all connected to the am/fm/cassette deck. How do I set this up? I don't want to remove the cassette deck and leave the cd player, because it's the cd player that's broken! At the least, I guess I should replace the cassette deck and just remove the cd player, but then what do I do with the hole where the cd player was??? Any suggestions? |

what a lot of people do is preplace the top one with a cd player and then wire up buttons and a panel for the bottom for other accessories, which is what I'm planning on doing to mine also. I'm tryin to find a pic of what i'm talking about. i'll post one soon
this is one way to do it where u just add like a storage place where the old cd player use to be!

all the wires that you need to catch are behind the radio. you will then replace the bottom one with a pocket of panel like the above.

yeah I like the panel of buttons better than the storage space but people do it different, some people like to replace the cigarette lighter with a panel of buttons instead and put a storage unit where teh cd player was

What do you do with all the wires that were attached to the cd player?

you should have to buy an adapter for your car for the aftermarket stereo, which will connect to the old wires, the ones that connect are the only ones you need. the rest should be fine just hanging back there.

+1, the only wires you will be using are the elongated rectangular gray plug (power) and then the small black square plug (speakers). The rest will be completely fine just sitting in there.
