'01 Stalling problem

I've had my mustang for a bout 4 months now and in the last 2 I've been having a problem with stalling. It happens when I rev my engine up above 2500 rpms (usually to get through a small break in traffic or on an on ramp) and then have to stop suddenly (for whatever reason). When I brake hard I instinctively put the clutch in and brake all the way to stop and occasionally my rpms drop below 500 (my stang idles at around 700) and I stall. My clutch is fully in every time, so I'm fairly sure its not driver error.

Could it be the fact that I'm clutching at high rpms and letting the engine go to idle on its own? Or could there be something wrong with my engine that I need to look into?

Any insight or help would be great.

no its not driver error. Check your oxygen sensors. that would be my first guess. if they go bad, it just wacks out everything else. if not that, check and make sure that your serpentine belt is tight. if its not that, get an alternator.

My first guess was something electrical. I hadn't even thought about my oxygen sensor...

As for my serpentine belt I had that and a few other things checked out before I started driving the car. If that turns out to be the problem then its time to go have a talk with that mechanic...

the O2 sensors are only like 20 a piece. get both of them replaced. that should fix it. if not, then the mechanic might not of tightened the alternator all the way. if that was the case, it would stall at an idle also. get the O2 sensors, put them in and give it a go. dont take it to a shop to replace them, they charge too much. you can do it in like 30 minutes easy.

Yeah, I'm a new guy. I like these forums a lot. I've already gotten a long list of things to do to my engine and ideas to fix my problems in the last 24 hours. Heck of a lot better than having someone look at it.
