1999 3.8L Difference between pre99 post 99
I just started to do a tune up on a 99 3.8L and the plug wires I bought {Bosch} were not long enough to reach the left side while the ones for the right were too long. Bosch notes that pre 12/98 manufacture take one set while 1/99 on take a different set. It is evident that the coil pack must have been relocated on the later motors which I evidently have. Mine is bolted to the driver side of the motor on the intake runner. Where were they mounted prior to 1/99 manufacture dates? And, what other changes were made? The intake runner must have been different also as I can see no other logical place to mount it. It would appear that it was probably mounted on the firewall to the rear of the engine but on my 99 that would be a tight fit if not impossible.
Anyone know what this change was that took place at the end of the 98 production year? And keep in mind that I am talking about 1999 models NOT 98 models. The date refer only to date of manufacture.
