Powerpack or 4.2
Alright my just to let everyone know, my car has about 120,000 miles on it. The power that my car makes is just not enough to keep me happy and in by end of march i will have a little over 2,000 to spend. The two main things im looking into are either a stage 2+ powerpack or a rebuilt 4.2liter crate engine from precisionengines.com. I notice that the power pack would be more expensive and would be a new engine like the 4.2, so wouldnt the 4.2 be a much much better investment????

alright, well thanks for the input, and i guess ill get to 4.2, ill be talking with the precisionengine.com to see if they can add a little more horsepower to the engine for a little more cash, and in april once its installed ill be sure to post pictures and let everyone know what i think of it.

they can I got a quote from them about 2 weeks ago. A port job is 250 and a custom cam is 250

speed4goal, did they say anything about what your lookin at for horsepower after adding the cam and port job? im looking for abot 250 rear wheel horsepower, so anyone have any idea how much horsepower id need the engine to produce to get that?

A cammed and port 4.2 with exhaust and other bolt ons can easily make 250rwhp.

my dad actually has a friend who owns a transmission shop but he said he coul install it for 300-400. so ill get it cammed and ported and installed for under 3000

Ok...correct me if im wrong, but isnt the crank from the 4.2 what adds the power and makes the motor more responsive to mods...so in theory wouldnt a 4.2 crank and a powerpack have more potential than an entire 4.2 motor
