Engine Swap Help

well to get things started I bought my first mustang(being 20 y/o). i bought a 2000 Mustang V6 vert auto, which is nice due to the fact its summer comming and well its a lady lover anyways the power just does not thrill me and was wondering if i am able to do a engine swap. i have been looking at vtengines_dot_com at their short block and was wondering if i am able to fit the v8 into the compartment as well as all the extras needed such as harneses, and other misc. parts. i also plan on getting their 6 speed transmission.

i bought the car for about $8500 cash with only 52k miles on it. and i was also curious as to is it even worth it? if i am able to do the swap and all it cost around 10k with new tranny, engine and misc parts. if anyone has done this or something along the lines please let me know

thank you

This guy up here doesn't know what hes getting himself into....

Is it worth it to swap a GT motor into a v6
- probably not

The question is how much HP do you want in the future?

You can get a built bottom end + single turbo + 1.7" RRs + turbo cam : And blow GT's out of the water.... For about the same as that swap.

Now things that will make and ENGINE swap cheaper
- If you can do all the work your self
- if you have a donor car sitting next to you

Oh, and for 8,500$ you could have found a GT

The easiest v8 swap for you to do will be a 351 Windsor drop, you'll also see a good amount of power. What kind of power are you looking for and how much do you have to spend? You can see more power out of the 6 for the same price as a v8 drop. Also I paid 7 for my v6 auto coupe 3 years ago for my car so for a convertible I would say good price.

im not lookin for huge amounts of power to want to take down high performance cars but a lil umph is all i want, have about $15k spending limit(thanks for winning bingo LOL) and i was looking at getting around 300-350rwhp and that lovely roar we all know and love. if i can do that getting a better v6 engine than i would do that but i just wanna know what i need to look at and where to shop for best prices.

Oh man for 15k your set
ok
1. forge your internals and get a 4.2l stroker kit
2. go to a speed shop and talk to them about a twin or single turbo kit
3. get a 8.8 rear end with 31 or 33 spline conversion and a Detroit locker

you be set and depending on your boost running low 13's to 10's in the 1/4 mile

hmm a TT would be nice i do like the turbo and the blowoff vavle. my other car(94' rx7) had TT as well and i loved driving that car now its just parked in teh garage not working and havne't gotton around to it yet. if ur wondering why im not spending hte money to get a ls1 engine swap on that is cuz well its a 2 seater and i usually have more than 1 other person in the car and so i bought this car as a group type driver and the price was right. the other problem i have about getting the 3 things u listed done is i dunno a place where i live to trust the ppl working on the internals as so forth, i have no problem traveling to a place that i know a lot of ususers have gone to and had no problems with. if u have any ideas please let me know

i was planning on getting the roush skide skirts and get the rousch side exaust and if i can get that on my 6er that would save me 100$ from getting the 8exaust sys

its my first american car and me being asian, my friends laughed cuz my licence plate still says G0T R1C3

ls1 drops in 7's are popular. For the internals work Google search your area for a speed shop and just go talk to them, if your in NC I know a few good places.

I personally would go with the 4.2 kit and build it from there. You'll have a 6 that can run with 8s all day, and a lighter set up as well.. as for the roush side exhuast, let me warn you...I have a roush v6 with body kit and all... I have had nothing but issues with my exhaust. I've ripped it out like 2 times with just daily driving. I've also got like 3.5-4 inches of clearance....You may want to think about that before going that route.

Gf seems to forget our little AIM chat

- 351w is defantly NOT the easiest v8 swap for you to do

TT's will get you into the 12s with the right amout of boost (look at J's car on www.tmaturbos.com)

10s is a whole different animal with a DD street car

www.tmaturbo.com [turbo information]

www.supersixmotorsports.com [4.2L motors information]

And you can AIM me, i'm sure I can answer most of your questions

Edit:

ALSO if your not trying to spend your entire 15k, and you don't plan on getting super crazy with this car. (you said you just wanted alittle oomph?)

Just do a built bottom end, a cam, and a single turbo setup or a supercharger.
built bottom end or a 4.2 from precision <
