White Smoke When I First Start It Up?

my car white smokes when i first start it up, but it doesn't occur when i floor it.... is it just because it's running rich b-cuz of my check engine light being (retard mode) on or is it the coolant problem like you'll said on an earlier post?

white smoke is most commonly associated with burning coolant, if you were running rich the smoke would be black or very dark. i would inspect your cooling system.

you probably have a cracked head gasket. Very likely culprit since it's not always putting out white smoke.

if you just put exhaust on it could also be from the exhaust burning off chemicals in the piping.

Light white smoke will also exit exhaust at start up if you "bog down" (down shift to brake) to a stop as opposed to using the brake and then suddenly turn off engine. It will blow light white smoke out the back next time you start. There is nothing wrong with your car and it is perfectly natural...now if you are talking about a white smoke screen- you have problems

that could be part of the problem since my car is a five speed, and it does smell like raw gas when i start it up, so do think that is all it is????

white smoke

alot of cars make white smoke when u first start it up, and rev it, it does not mean theres coolant burning, white smoke can also mean that it has more air then fuel in the mixture which is common and dont wrry about it at all, My car has white smoke when I rev it, and I have no cracked head gasket or anythng so no u prob dont have anythng wrong its what cars do
