CAI installhttp://www.americanmuscle.com/muv6coairins.html I have a 2001 v6 coupe and it doesn't seem to be fitting properly. I figure it's one of the following things. 1. I'm a retard and can't figure it out. 2. I didn't get all the parts sent to me. 3. I got some of the wrong parts sent to me. Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Basically I got the stock intake out no problem...the mass air sensor bolted up fine...only problem is I'm not seeing anywhere to attach the grommet studs that came with it to mount it to the grommets in the framerail.....also the piping from the mass air sensor to the throttle body doesn't seem to be a very good fit...it looks like if I work it a bit I could get it attached but the hose that I detached from the stock intake doesn't seem to want to attach to the new piping....also with the bolt that I removed from the fenderwell to take out the stock intake...there is nothing included that would attach the new intake to that bolt...so I see no way to secure the front of the new air take to the vehicle I know it's tough w/o pictures to help me...I'll try and get some up...in the mean time basically if anyone has installed this intake on their v6 mustang I could really use your help

only problem w/the intructions is they are kind of generic...like I said in first post when trying to follow instructions it doesn't seem to be working with the parts that they gave me....I had to give up on it for tonight as I ran out of light (apartment currently..have to work outside)
..so I put the stock back on and will tear it apart again tomorrow and see if I can get it to fit....it seemed to be a very tough fit the way I was setting it up and had I made it fit I didn't see any way to attach it to the fenderwell or framerail

If you work the pipe, it will fit. I know its a pain in the ass. But you can do it. As for the bracket.... They should of given you a bracket to hold the pipe that goes through the fenderwall. If they didnt give you a bracket, its impossible to secure it to the frame and fender wall unless you want to use twisty ties.

what about the aluminum grommet studs they supplied me with? they are supposedly supposed to go into the rubber grommets in the framerail, but I see no way to attach them to the new intake piping they gave me....also on the piping that would go from the mass air sensor to the throttle body..there is a metal tube coming out of there and a rubber grommet that would end up on the top of the tube after it is installed....first of all the metal tube i'm assuming would be where the hose i disconnected from the stock intake would go..but it doesn't seem to fit...obviously the steel won't give and the hose has a plastic tip with a ridge on it and that's not gonna give either...assuming i can get the hose attached to that..what's the rubber piece for? I don't think that i would want an open hole in the piping.....the hose does fit in the rubber grommet...but I see no way to attach the pipe to get that grommet within reach of the hose (it's very short)...and also even if i could that brings me back to the other question of what's the other piece for?...there was only 1 hose and the wiring that I had to disconnect from the stock intake

Just return it and get the BOMZ intake. Cheaper, and it works just the same.

i will have to call and make sure I got all the right parts...i think the rubber piece on the tube is for the air temp sensor..but i didn't have to remove anything resembling that...do all 99-04 have those...perhaps they sent me the wrong pipe as well..i wonder that b/c i had been having some trouble getting the couplings to fit as well

there is a rubber piece on the pipe (should be underneath when installed), that is for the air temp sensor. There is also a Metal piece that sticks out on top of the same pipe. that is for you to push your PVC hose into. It is a bitch to push it in. That will take the longest. I ended up melting the plastic to fit it in.

that's what I found weird...first of all the rubber piece for the air temp sensor ended up on top of the piping...with it on the bottom there was no way that it would fit...also where is the air temp sensor installed on the stock intake?..i didn't notice it when I removed the stock intake

it is attached to the stock piping. follow the wires to it. There are only 2 electrical parts on the stock intake. 1 is the MAF sensor. The second one is the Air temp sensor. Its a bitch to pull out. Pry it out with a screwdriver. You unplugged it when you took the stock one off. the connector is the same connector that is used on a light bulb. thats how you identify it. Pull it off, and push it into the aftermarket on. Again, its a bitch to put in, but just push pretty hard, and it will go in. The Sensor goes into the hole with the rubber around it.

the only thing i had to unplug was the pvc hose and the electric connection to the mass air sensor..it was just a single cord with a connector on eact end...are you saying the sensor is in that same cord bundle

i had actually been looking at that site as well...i will just have to look at it tomorrow and see where it is...i don't remember seeing anything that looked like that and i only had to disconnect 1 wire
I also sent an email to american muscle to make sure that i received all of the parts since i seem to be missing the mounting bracket....if the kit doesn't come with one do you have any ideas as to where i might dig one up? |
