8.8" rear end...

Does anyone know where to get pretty much the GT rear end assembly. I know some places sell them with the specific gear ratio you want...but Im having trouble finding them. Ebay has a few, but they look pretty shady! If anyone could help that would be great. Its going on my sixer by the way...just so you dont think Im a v8 guy in the wrong section!

well lemme know if u get in touch w/ him.. cuz those are the gears im gonna get.. haha.. but yeah from searching threads and such, the majority here seem to say that the junkyard is the place to look.. and if im not mistaken it doesnt event technically have to be a gt rear, you could get one from a ford truck or something as long as it was 8.8.. personally id feel more comfortable with a gt rear from my same year, though

If you are going to college for performance powertrain then installing a rear end from a vehicle other than a Mustang should be a piece of cake, like you said it is not rocket science. All you are looking to do is to match the width of the axle to be the same as the one you have now. Ford trucks with 9" axles are a dime a dozen in junk yards, or an 8.8 from an Exploder.
