It took me over 4 hours to change just the rear pads because i kept trying to get the cheap tool to work. I know from now on i will be buying the caliper tool set instead of the cheap tool.
Lmao same thing happened to me, I eventually got the right tool and I was done in 15 minutes.

I'm in the same boat now. By the way, pads are near new, pins slide fine, pads slide fine but it was dragging. Must be the cable or the caliper, and probably the cable since it was in cold weather.

Anyway, I didn't have any problem turning the piston with a channel locks but turning it one direction did nothing, and turning the other way made it come out further! So Yea, just turning it isn't always enough, you gotta push in too. At least on this one...I worked on an older Cobra and on that one just turned it right in no problem, with channel locks.

You can pick up a whole kit with attachments for numerous vehicles at Harbor Freight for like $20. That's where I got mine and it works great.

Sorry, but I disagree with you on this. Just because no-one has posted for a couple months doesn't mean a brother can't contribute. Notice how others joined in after I posted. This is a great forum, but not exactly the biggest/fastest moving forum on the internet. You can always un-subscribe once posts get old and you are no longer intersted, right?

Not possible on rear brakes an an S197 Mustang. They MUST be screwed in clockwise. Use a C-Clamp on your rears and you will destroy your pistons.
