Gas Milage on 2000
ok, hi there. im back with my 2000 vert v6, the problem is my gas mileage is reeeeealy horseshit. i ofcourse am keeping my foot off the gas, shifting at 2200, and putting regular gas in it.
my mods are: K&N cold air intake, 1 flowmaster 40 (just replaced stock muff) replaced parts: air pump, PCV valve, full tune up, stock tire size proper inflation. i understand that my low end torque will suffer with the flowmaster but should my milage really be 19-21? i believe the first tank after i replaced the pcv valve was 28! ![]() i drive mostly city miles, but the last tank was all 60MPH down the highway and got 22, if there is no way to get better milage i may have to go back to my 03' chevy cavalier!

your not going to lose any low end torque swapping out the stock muffler...you should consider going true duals. your going to get a nice sound upgrade
i get like 17-18 tops driving conservatively, so be happy with what your getting!!

Jesus man, I wish I got 22mpg. I got a heavy foot (and love those highway entrances with shifts at 4.5k) so I'm getting about 15mpg.

I usually get like 22 in town, 26-29 freeway.
After the procharger it seems to have gotten a little better actually, mostly because it's not tuned correctly yet so I'm staying off the gas. What kind of tires do you have? |

spark plugs, ignition wires, oil change, and oxygen sensors are a few parts and services you could do but other than regular maintenance you could have your car tuned for better fuel efficiency and most of all is get a lighter foot its hard to do but totally worth it my gas mileage went from 21-23 to 25-28 with a lighter foot and no jack rabbit starts from redlights

My stock car off the show room floor didn't get 28mpg, and never has...
22-23 is the norm.

Are you running a conservative tune by any chance?

i am running a stock tune, one would think with the 5spd and a moderate v6 i could get well over 22. my parents have a minivan with the 3.0 and that gets 21. I have a 1960 Chevrolet Corvair with an 80hp air cooled panhead 6 that get 20 freaking MPG
