v6 auto to manual


i have a 05 v6 auto mustang. id like to put a five speed in. should i go with a 05 tranny or would anything work? what all would i need? i know the salve cylinder, install the 3rd pedal, make a hole to connect all the lines. how bad is it to do this??

from what i hear it's a pain in the ass and takes a lot of time to get it right prolly better off just trading yours in for a 5 speed

its a fact that its a pain in the ass and almost not worth doing. It will cost you a lot of money and time.

why dont you install a shift kit? I'm no expert on them but i hear good things from those who have one. Along with a tuner to adjust the shift points, you cant get a better shift if you tried.

I didn't even think bout a shift kit. That would prolly work out better now that I think bout it....what's one of those cost?

shift kits are like 150 I think. Tuners gonna run you 375 , go with sct. A higherstall torqueconvter would be good but I think it might run you 800ish with install. That will all make the most of your auto and it will be faster then a mannual from a dig. But if you really want a stick I would trade cars.

well the shop i go to the owner did an auto to manual conversion and he said it took forever just to work out all the kinks and when it came time to pay for it the owner of the car never bothered to show up for payment so for the past two years that guys car has just been sitting at the shop....so i take that the conversion was expensive as well as time consuming

heh, after 3 months he is legally allowed to assume ownership of the vehicle and sell it

wow thats funny....who does that really lol.....thanks for the info guys im goin to do some research on the shift kits and do some pricing c what i can find.....if u know anything bout them or a good brand to go with let me know...thanks
