what can a sixer stick with

I was just wondering what people have raced whether on the track or the street and what the outcome has been. What do you think a modded v6 could take or stay with in a race? Also what mods are people doing to keep up with these cars? And do you think a 6r could ever take a car such as the new srt 4's or Cobalt ss supercharged?

Yes, it is all about money and work.

Stock a 1994-1998 six can stay head to head with a stock civic SI a 99+ will pull nicely on them.

Most domestic v6's will get put in their place but import v6's have a good chance of putting the hurt on you completely stock. 85-90 percent of stock pre 2000 N/A 4 bangers are going to be killed.

But trust me, with the right work the 3.8 can pull off 500 hp plus easily. Which is good enough against pretty much anyone that you will see!

A stock six you wont take a srt 4 unless if its a bad driver. I have a srt 4 in my car club and he eats me up every single time. With the work you can take plenty of cars on. You have a good platform to start off with. Only reason why I'm movin up is because I'm bored of the auto tranny and I love v8's. Thats what I grew up on.

Check out places like

supersixmotorsports.com for some engine stuff. There are other sites, but I can't think of them.

To start off with go with underdrive pullies, gears, exhaust, cai, custom tune to wake your car up.

any street cars you will see. a lot of the regulars at the strip have 800-1100+ rwhp and run 8s-6sec 1/4 times.

i run with anything running mid-high 14s. stock cars in the mid-high 14s include:

1990-1992 camaro z28 (15.0-15.2 in the 1/4)
1985-2004 mustang gt (14.5-14.9 in the 1.4)
2003-2004 honda s2000 (14.4-14.9 in the 1/4)
2006 mitsubishi eclipse gt (14.4 in the 1/4)
1991, 1993 pontiac firebird formula (14/8 in the 1/4)
2002-2003 subaru wrx (14.4 in the 1/4)

im sure there are many other cars that run these times and all, but these are cars i found that mustangs might run against...

stock v6 mustangs:
1994-1998: 17.3-16.5 in the 1/4
1999-2004: 16.2 in the 1/4
2005+: 15.5 in the 1/4

I meant in a safe street legal sense. I am pretty sure he wants his car to be able to drive to the track instead of putting it on a trailer.

Sure you could have 800+ hp but that is a lot of stress on the engine. 500-600 horse is still very driveable and will last 150,000 miles quite nicely without any serious problems as long as he keeps upkeep on the vehicle.

Oh and one more thing, don't race on the street. It's just stupid....
