[01 V6 Mustang]

I have a 01 mustang and it makes a whining noise when i'm in third gear goin 60 mph and my car has a hard time goin into reverse and grinds first pretty hard on a dead stop any ideas?

The tranny is a very complicated thing and i cant really tell you what the problem would be very acuratly without being able to take a actual look at it. See if you can have some one take a look at it... it could also possibly just be your gears that cause the grinding... striped a few teeth? but then again im not completly sure without seeing it

Well the transmission has a sorta-of-saftey device to keep you from going into first if you're going to fast. You basicly have to easy it into 1 and R. Sometimes mine won't go al; the way into R so a let off the clutch slightly while pulling the shifter back and it pops in. I doubt it is supposed to do this though. =P
