Windstar tips

Ok, so I have been working the last two days on my new windstar upper manifold. I just wanted to warn people that if you do not have some serious tools and tools for making custom brackets and a lot of time, don't waste your time. I have a good tool set with a bunch of dremel tools, cutting wheels, sawsal. I just wanted to help some people out and let them know that VAP has put a lot of great work into making the install easy. And I would definately recommend that anyone who does not have a lot of tools or time to just buy the kit. It is more difficult than one thinks and takes a lot more time than one thinks as well.

VAP sells all the custom brackets separate from the kit. It would cost more than making them yourself but it would probably save you a ton of time and work (unless you've got the time, tools, and skills of course).

This is why I just went with VAP's kit. He has done all of the research and planned it all out. All I had to do was follow the instructions. It would've looked like ass if I would have tried to make my own brackets and stuff.

VAP's Page: VAP Auto - Windstar Kit

I don't really have a good picture of my engine cleaned up or anything, but this is what it looked like right after I was finished. Since this I've neatened up how the wires look and cleaned the engine a bit. I need to take a new picture.

Mines is custom. I still need to clean up the brackets and shave the IAC on it so my hood will stop bending.

Did you fill your old IAC port on the top of your throttle body red?

Hmm...I thought it was a simple swap. At least mine was. Steve did provide the bracket and iac though...the rest was done on my end.

It took me all of 2hours. The second time it only took 30mins.

Nope, but the plate hold the IAC blocks it off.

The windstar does just bolt up. But you have to do certain modifications to it to get it to work. One you have to bend fuel rail, and over flow tube until you got the room. Then you have to shave and fill the IAC. I had to re shave mine cuz it still hit my hood, so I took it way down. Then you have to install a fitting underneath behind the tb for the IAC relocation. That is all just for the manifold. If you had the windstar kit, I bet it would only take 2 hours. Then after you get the manifold after you have that fitting you need to make a IAC bracket, coil bracket, egr block off, remove egr, route vacuum lines, and connect everything and then get your cai to work so it don't hit your hood, and make a throttle bracket. It is a lot of work if you don't buy the kit. The kit is a good idea!!
