5.4L Conversion
OK so I know alot of people discourage engine swaps with the 6er, but i would like to make this my project car and i'm looking for any information you guys might have on a 5.4L swap from a 2001 ford expedition.
A friend of mine was given this engine and wants to put it in my car. My current engine has alot of miles on it so i feel this would be ideal to start building up. So if you guys know of any write ups im looking to start researching the install.

I believe the swap is pretty much identical to a 4.6L swap, other than exhaust, and that a 5.4 is too tall to clear the stock hood (maybe that's only with a blower, though).
I'd search the '99-'04 section, there's a few guys there that have done it.

Get the HPS intake:
Home Then it will fit under the stock hood, and swap the cams while you have it out. Other than that its basically like doing the 4.6 swap. Your most likely going to need the 4.6 wiring harness , of course the front accessories, a/c lines, etc. *if you want to keep your a/c of course And look for an 8.8 rear end

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to buy a wrecked GT and pull the parts from it? or do you think it would be better to get the parts individually? I think i might do some junk yard searching to see all the goodies i can find.

I would try to find a gt or cobra with a bad or no engine at all and start from there. If you put it into your v6 you're probably looking at replacing your whole rear end and maybe even suspension given the extra weight. Someone else might know more about that than I do

Yeah I’m planning to do a 8.8 rear end here shortly (which I might also take off of the wrecked GT)… I also have some pretty stiff springs at the moment (Steeda competition springs) which should hold up fine… I had plans to do a coil over system but this motor just got thrown into the picture so I’m going to use my money towards that.

look for a 3.8 to 4.6 thread, then look at a 4.6l to 5.4l thread, then youll know what you need
