Up here they wanted $500 to install the longtubes, then like another $800 for a fabbed non mandrel bent exhaust. So I bought all the parts and im doing it myself.

Yes but you'll want to anyway. You can either run straight pipes from the headers to a muffler on each side, then either dump it or have tips installed.
Or use a midpipe, to mufflers, etc. A midpipe is not necessary on these cars as the engines are even firing.

Yes, keeping you single exhaust would defeat the purpose of the longtubes, which is mainly for sound on our cars.

No, you don't "have" to alter it. Your mid pipe would have to be altered, but the single pipe from the muffler back does not. So if you wanted to put on longtubes now and save up for a dual exhaust or a bigger single then you could. But your stock single exhaust would still hinder the gains that long tubes would yield untill you either get the dual exhaust or a bigger single. So no, it doesn't HAVE to be altered, but it is recommended. Last edited by rfcsoulja; May 25th, 2010 at 06:01 PM. |

LONG TUBES!! shorty's are not worth much except that they wont leak like the stock manifolds. Long tubes with breath better.

Yea I plan to get LT's no crossover and probably flowmaster 40's or 44's (any thoughts on those two? or other suggestions?) however because I live in canada I have to keep the cats, so I'm not sure if I'd be better to use the stock ones or get some high flow ones...on my car there are 4 cats. two small ones just off the headers and then two really long ones before the y pipe..does anyone know why they're so long? and perhaps a better question..are they even cats :p
but ya, the only reason I even suggested a gt catback was because I want the chrome tips and thought it might be cheaper that way

ya I found a few magnaflow clips and I like their sound..stupid question, whats the difference between the 40's and 44s? oh, and does anyone rock out those slp mufflers on AM? One more questions lol, should I throw some resonators on there as well?
I'm going for like a classic sorta late 60's early 70's mustang sound..so any tips for that direction would be awesome lol

ok final thought ---> if i replace both my right and left exst manifolds with long tube headers, to high flow cats, to flowmaster 40s...and dump the tips... does that sound good ? thats without going with an H-PIPE set up. just straight tubes. some of my dads students are going this at the tech school, i just need to know exactly what i should get, note, i have one flowmaster, org exst. thanks so much i will be writing reviews on yinz for helping me out
