Out of curiosity...
What would putting just a single flowmaster muffler on stock exhaust do for the sound? Anything really? Im thinking of just putting one in for now since a dual setup is too expensive right now. I dont mind the stock exhaust since the v6 isnt a muscle car so much, but i would still like to be able to hear it a little better cause its fun with the windows down now that its summer. I just dont want it to sound crappy. And please dont point me to the v6 exhaust thread!!! i already looked through the whole thing and didnt find what i was looking for.

Yea it wont do much at all, I mean you will notice a little bit but you will wish you just saved and went dual.

alright, well, what about doing something like this? i know that glasspacks on a mustang sound like $#!+, but this guy kinda seems to know what he's talking about, and if its only 60 bucks, it wouldnt be the worst thing to experiment with would it?

I put a single flowmaster on the stock pipes, chome tip. Definitely changed sound, slightly more vibrating and pulsing at idle, definitely louder, you can hear the pitch change at all gear shifts, but not that mean growl you'll hear on the youtube vids. For that, anywhere near that really, you'll need something like a CAI, a h pipe, and dual flowmaster 40 exhausts. I'd start there actually. That's eventually what I'm going as well.

Duals are not that expensive at all if you find a place with a mandrel bender and supply the mufflers yourself.

but why get one thrush when you can have 2?! Plus it'd sound so much better with 2 of them Id have duals right now with thrush's but not a single meineke within 30 miles of me has a mandrel bender :-/ didn't know I needed mandrel bent pipes for straight pipes. Plus the last one I went to the guy was an idiot, he told me they had to be mandrel bent because of the 2 slots in my back bumper for them, I kindly told him that is only on GT's mine just goes straight across and the tail pipe goes under it. He promptly told me I was wrong and that he worked on 4 mustangs that were v6's and they all had those cutouts. I told him then they must have put GT back bumpers on or you can't tell the difference between a v6 and a GT which is sad, and since you can't I don't want my car worked on here.
