v6 upgrades
I have a 99 v6 with :
2.5" dual exhaust 7.5 posi rear with 4.10 gears CAI 16" 2004 GT rims with 225/60/16 I'd like to make my car faster... as everyone does. Here's something I found interesting : http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl..._supercharged/ NOW, this guy has some very interesting things on his car.. a 4.2 from a ford f150... is that worth it? IWas just going to get a cam for my car from supersixmotorsports.com first, then the cylinder heads and intakes later... any suggestions? anything I should get instead of this? I'd like to keep my 6, but upgrade it before supercharging and such... I found a nice setup from boosthead.com for 1500... |

imo the cam should come last because they're made for the upgrades you have on your car.. the 4.2 is a good idea too, at precisionengines.com they have one for about 2 grand and it produces around 250 hp.. youd need to get forged internals if youre planning on running much boost (stock cant handle it) from s/c as well as many other things.. if you're planning on getting near or above 350 hp then youll need to switch out your rear to an 8.8" because that will be too much power for the 7.5" .. what psi is the setup from boost and what all is included?

I have no idea what boost it puts out.. it includes an alternator, bracket and the belt driven turbo.. it says they start at 1650, but for a mustang, he quoted me about 2500 or 1500 without the bracket. I'd prefer doind the power pack, but I'm not sure... it's very confusing to me with what I can and can't do with the car. I'd rather not have more than 350 hp for now... since I can't afford to change out the rear. Which is why I was thinking about the cam first... I'm mainly looking at options and trying to decide what is best and cheaper... you understand

well the cam from SSMS you'll have to get new heads. If you wanna run a s/c on stock internals get a stage one procharger run it at 7 psi and forge at about 95k miles if your already at that point in mileage go ahead and forge everything. if you want a 4.2l get the one from percisionengines.com it is a rebuilt ans stroked 3.8 engine and will drop in easy already rated at 250 horses
