cruise install

Just finished putting in cruise in my Stang. For those who would like cruise I will tell you what I found out. First off this was done on my 03 with stick.99 to 04 should be the same. After rounding up all the parts the install was really easy as all the wiring was already there.

What you need to get. You need the servo with the correct cable assy,V6 and V8 are different.there are three switches you need ,clutch deactivate, brake deactivate and speed control . You need to get a steerig wheel for cruise as the cars with no cruise do not have the mounting tabs for the speed control switch. Its a good time to upgrade to a FR500 wheel as the tabs are there and it is a way nicer wheel.I also got the shroud that screws into the back of the steering wheel .You can probably trim the old shroud but its a lot easier to replace.

The sevro bolts in behind the left front wheelwell .The bolts to mount it were already there as well as the connector.Just feed it into the engine compartment and mount onto the bracket and throttle body. The deactivate switches mount on the pedal assy. The brake switch mounts to the brake pedal, one end (the pivot end )goes to a hole in the bracket assy the other to a arm on the brake pedal. To adjust the switch just push it all the way in,ush the pedal down and attach. The clutch deactivate switch mounts by the clutch quadrant .Just plug them in .

The steering wheel is removed(disconnect battery and wait five minutes before you begin so you dont have the air bag going off in your face).Attach the speed control switch and transfer the horn switch to the new wheel. Then put the new shroud or the trimmed stock one on.Plug in the harness and put everything back together.Check your fuses in the fuse block under the dash,You should have one in positions 17,33 and 35.Reconnect the battery and enjoy your cruise control.
