Strange tick

When I start my car when its cold or has at least been sitting for a couple hours, right after igntion Ill hear 3 or 4 ticks in succesion. But after that there is no problem. When the engine is warm it won't do it. Right now its just ticks after igntion without any real problem occuring from them, but I'm worried that its a warning sign to something more serious.
Any ideas on whats wrong or what I should look at would be fantastic.
thanks
