My white smoke problem

Well took the car in today...turns out the oil and coolant are not mixing at all, and there is no blown headgasket on intake manifold gasket...the car has been running and sounding fine, but i did throw a massive coolant smelling smoke screen on friday night, but the resevoir looked un touched. The mechanic did say something about mayb a coolant leak getting on the headers and burning off causing the smell and the smoke. Anyone have any ideas what it could be or where the smoke is from

It may be that a clamp holding the coolant hose to the block broke and/or loosened up causing coolant to get on your block. The only other thing if your gasket isn't blown is a hose actually has a hole. Usually what a coolant hose will do is bulge up (aka "becoming pregnat) right before it starts squirting coolant. As a result, the coolant could be spraying on your engine. I'm surprised the mechanic didn't check for loose clamps or broken hoses while diagnosing that oil wasn't mixing with the coolant and checking to see if your head gasket is blown. They can also do a pressure check on the system to see if there is a leak in your hoses.

Yeah...grab a flashlight and look under the hood. Check around and see if you see any bulges in any of your hoses. If you see any, it would be a good thing to have the hose(s) replaced before they cause you a huge issue. If it's not your hoses, it may be your heater core. Every vehicle has a different location for heater cores. That is how you get heat in your car. They go out on older vehicles and spew coolant. It may be your heater core leaking on your hot exhaust. I wouldn't overlook that one....

sometimes...sometimes not. You can still get hot air even though the heater core is leaking. It probably only leaks when you have the heat on, as that's when the coolant runs through.

check the heater core hose its a small by pass looking hose on the top of the water pump... mines behind the coil pack...

if that appears to be fine check the front cover and see if that looks to be in good shape... thats the metal piece that covers the timing gears and sits behind the water pump... it is covered with acesorries... so idk you could just check it ... but it might take a second
